My Places: Cities and Towns

A collaborative installation - visitors to the gallery add to a work creating an imaginary city, using pencils and paper, or cardboard boxes. Local artists will aid the process, by offering weekly workshops to create an imaginary city.

The Artist Studio

West Gallery

The gallery comes alive with regional artists - painters, sculptors, watercolourists, textile-artists and potters working in the gallery space. Artists include Lucy McCann, Barry McCann and Kerry Gulliver. This gives the visiting public a unique insight into the practice of working artists.

Lionel Lindsay: A delight in detail
20 February to 24 May
Lalor Harris Gallery

Lionel Lindsay was a member of the famous artistic Lindsay family and renowned as a painter, printmaker, writer and critic. After early studies in Australia, Lindsay travelled in Europe, returning to Australia to work as an illustrator for the Bulletin. This exhibition focuses on his engravings, watercolours and sketches from his travels in Spain to his thematic works of barnyard and exotic birds. Curated by NERAM Curator, Philippa Charley-Briggs.

Shapes and Sizes: A selection of works from the Chandler Coventry Collection

The Coventry Collection was described by the former Director of the Australian National Gallery, James Mollison as one of the most important private collections of contemporary, Australian art. Chandler Coventry born in Armidale into a pastoral family, began collecting the works of contemporary Sydney artists in the 1960s. The Collection strongly reflects the art movements of the1960s and 1970s. Curated by NERAM Interim Director, Caroline Downer

Michelle Hungerford: Crow Country

This exhibition represents a year's work and a connection to the artist's visual world: "At the end of each painting day, I watch the crows flying east across the very landscape that I paint and at the same time every day, religiously they fly the same path. I was left to wonder, where do the crows go? I was once told that the crow is a messenger from the other side, the spiritual world".

BioMorphic: Michael Jarachowicz and Gabrielle McGrath

This will be the 5th collaborative exhibition between Michael Jarochowicz & Gabrielle McGrath. As well as collaborative sculptural pieces, each will be further exploring their niche: Gabrielle with her copper construction and assemblage and Michael with his mark making and steel construction. A collection of works to connect viewers with the drama of the New England sky.  Fay has filled many years of sketchbooks recording the changing sky – the play of light, the colours and the drama of the ‘big sky ‘ on the top of the range.  It is a continuing visual feast which provides an unfailing source of inspiration.

Marty Branagan: laddies' night @ the e-bore

This is landscape-based show by regional artist Marty Branagan and features narrative, figurative and Dadaist works. Styles include surrealism and en plein air expressionism, with influences such as Gordon Bennett, Louis Buvelot, Kevin Connor, John Olsen, James Gleeson and William Robinson. a variety of media is exhibited, including oils, acrylics, gouache, photomontage and assemblage.
