Don’t miss HINTON opening weekend

Visitors can discover more about one of the great art collections in the country on Saturday 17 and Sunday 18 February at NERAM.

The opening weekend of HINTON: Treasures of Australian art will be a celebration of the donor’s life and times with a series of talks, activities and performances at the New England Regional Art Museum.

The weekend program includes:

Exhibition openings

HINTON: Treasures of Australian art, Eventide, Caution wet paint: Lucy Culliton and Impossible Guest: Elizabeth Willing

Guest Speakers:  Edmund Capon AM, OBE and Lucy Culliton, artist

Performance: Dixie Six Jazz group, New England Conservatorium of Music

 

SATURDAY 17 FEBRUARY 2018

Artists talks – Lucy Culliton and Elizabeth Willing  Join the artists for an informal walk through their exhibitions.

Free guided tour: join a NERAM Volunteer Guide for a tour of the exhibition HINTON: Treasures of Australian art

  • Creating the Parthenon on the Hill: establishment and early life of the Armidale Teachers’ College with Jim Belshaw, historian
  • Howard Hinton’s Collecting: Why and What and When with Michael Moignard, art historian, LaTrobe University

 

SUNDAY 18 FEBRUARY 2018

10:00am – 1.00pm 

Get drawing in the Gallery:  Pick up a pencil and  a pad and find your inspiration in the Howard Hinton Collection with local artists from the New England Art Society (no experience necessary – open for children and adults)

3:00pm

Concert

Jazz of the 1920s and 30s with the Dixie Six.

Join the new trad jazz band form the New England Conservatorium of Music in their first major concert.
