A new exhibition provides teachers with a rare opportunity to introduce their students to the works of some of Australia’s leading textile artists from the past forty years.
The exhibition Plain, Satin and Twill presents a beautifully displayed selection of works from the National Textile Collection at the Tamworth Regional Gallery and has been curated and developed in collaboration with NERAM.
Tamworth is home to a nationally significant textile collection and their Tamworth Textile Triennial exhibition is one of the most biggest events on the Australian contemporary craft calendar, and has been ever since these exhibitions started back in the 1970s.
Later this year Open House: 3rd Tamworth Textile Triennial will be opening at the Tamworth Regional Gallery in October and will celebrates the open-ended, porous nature of textiles practice today and it will introduce a group of artists who have not previously exhibited in the triennial.
The attached education kit has been developed for use by students and teachers in association with a visit to the exhibition Plain, Satin and Twill with activities designed for use in the classroom and at the art museum
The exhibition Plain, Satin and Twill will be on display at the New England Regional Art Museum in Armidale from Friday 18 August until Sunday 15 October 2017.
