Solar Plate Printmaking
with Dianne Longley
One Day workshop
Saturday 7 April 2018
10.00am – 4.30pm
@ NERAM, Armidale
Explore the versatility of printing with photopolymer plates. These plates are water-washable and can be exposed in the sun or using a UV exposure unit. For this workshop we will make relief plates that can be printed by hand or in a book press or on a letterpress printing press (mounted type high). We will be working with small plates, either 10.5 x 15 cm or 10.5 x 7.5 cm. You will be given a piece/s of drafting film and you will work with opaque pens or you can paint with gouache. Consider creating an ex-libris (bookplate) print or hand-printed card.
Dianne Longley runs the Agave Print Studio in the Central Victorian town of Trentham where she teaches courses and workshops on printmaking, type and book arts. From the mid 1980s until 2014 she has lectured in photography and printmaking at a number of educational institutions including the Adelaide College of the Arts, Adelaide School of the Arts, University of South Australia and Flinders University. Her artists’ books and prints have featured in solo and group exhibitions in Australia, South Korea, Japan, India, Sweden, Spain, Hungary, Mexico, the UK and the USA and are in public collections in those countries.
Bring some drawings or photographs to the workshop for compositional inspiration. Also bring pencils and small paint brushes.
Includes cut lunch, tea and coffee.
Materials list will be sent to participants.
