As part of its acquisition policy, the Art Museum purchases works of art, and receives donations from both collectors and artists.
In the last few years, with the assistance of the Australia Council, the Office of the Minister for the Arts and fundraising, the Art Museum has made several important purchases including paintings by:

armidale city collection
The Armidale City Collection, of 300 works of art began in 1963 and ended in 1983 when the New England Regional Art Museum was opened.
It consists primarily of works by local artists and hangs on the walls of many
public offices in Armidale.
