Trysts & Interludes presents twenty-one prints of various medium selected from the Howard Hinton Collection. Each of the works alludes to a passing moment; junctures of escape, respite, incidental or ardent interaction.
Each moment depicted in these works is unrelated and yet an undercurrent of deep feeling and sensation is depicted, contained in solitude and stillness or unleashed through fervour and rushing movement. The work’s protagonists are all engaged in moments of interaction or private reflection that we as the viewer are able to glimpse. The joy of these works then is to try and enter the narrative, to understand not just what the figures are doing but what they are saying to each other, thinking and feeling.
