Resplendent highlights female artists within the NERAM collections from inter-war modernists to contemporary practitioners that demonstrate an affinity for and experimentation with colour.
Thea Proctor expressed the belief that male artists excelled at ‘form’ and female artists at ‘colour’ demonstrating a progressive sensitivity and exuberance for colour that significantly contributed to ongoing innovation in Australian art. Resplendent reveals the varied forms of art practice that emerge from the circumstances, environments and interests of women in the arts, examined through an expressive spectrum of colour.
