Telstra brings NERAM communications into 21st century

The New England Regional Art Museum will be able to replace and upgrade its telephone system thanks to a special donation of $10,000 from Telstra which was presented today

The Board of Telstra recently visited Armidale for their first regional meeting which included a visit to NERAM which included a storeroom tour of The Howard Hinton Collection and an impressive series of presentations by local technology, agricultural and educational businesses which was organised by the Armidale Regional Council.

During the visit the Board expressed their enthusiasm for the museum and the nationally significant collection of artworks which are in NERAM’s custodianship.

“Telstra is honoured to be able to provide this donation to the New England Regional Arts Museum and help them upgrade their telephone system,” said Chris Simon, Telstra’s Community Engagement Manager. “During their recent visit to the area, the Telstra Board and senior leadership team saw firsthand the important role art and culture play in the community and how the museum is playing a vital role in providing these services,”

“The new phone system will allow the Museum to better connect with the local community and continue their great work.”

The donation will be used by NERAM to install new telephones and update the wiring and connections throughout the building.

“The New England Regional Art Museum thanks Telstra for their donation and sees the installation of the new telephone system as essential in enabling our staff and volunteers to provide our visitors with excellent customer services,” said Robert Heather, Art Museum Director. “Our volunteers were very excited to hear that we would be getting a new phone system as the current system belongs on display in a historical museum.”

“In making this donation Telstra is leading by example as the generous support of corporate sponsors makes it possible for regional cultural organisations such as NERAM to create new artistic events and provide essential educational activities for our communities.”
