Annual Appeal 2019
One of the most exceptional and unique experiences that you can have at NERAM is to stand in the centre of HINTON: Treasures of Australian Art and turn in a slow circle. In doing this, you get a sense of the magnitude of Howard Hinton’s vision for his collection, and his generosity in gifting it to the Teachers’ College in Armidale. It was an extraordinary gift in its time, and it has continued to inspire extraordinary generosity in others; Chandler Coventry, The Margaret Olley Art Trust, Packsaddle, the Friends of NERAM and so many individuals, like you, who are part of our community and who have enabled NERAM to become one the leading museums in regional Australia.
With the generosity and unwavering support of donors, the NERAM community has achieved some outstanding triumphs:
This support has allowed us to build a program of innovative exhibitions and events, provide access to our collections as well as nationally significant art from around the country, deliver lifelong creative education opportunities and to be a cultural hub where everyone is welcome.
There is of course much more that we would like to achieve in order to expand and improve the experiences that you can have at NERAM and to ensure that we are the cultural destination in regional NSW, providing vital services to our local community and attracting interstate and international visitors to the New England Region. In order to achieve these goals, we need strong foundations, that support the very core of our operation.
In 2019 we continue our focus for the Annual Appeal on raising funds for the NERAM Foundation. Thanks to previous generous support from our community, the combined endowment of the Hinton trust and NERAM Foundation holds over $1 million dollars and provides annual funding to NERAM of approximately $36,000. We believe that the ongoing funding provided by the NERAM Foundation is the most critical and successful strategy for securing NERAM’s future and providing financial sustainability to NERAM and its activities. As the Foundation’s endowment fund grows it will provide more funds each year towards NERAM’s operational costs such as staffing, insurance, building maintenance as well as the programs that activate the art museum and make us a key cultural destination.
The money that you donate to the 2019 Annual Appeal will be invested in the Foundation Endowment Fund and will continue to grow year after year through returns on investments, ensuring that your donation will have an ongoing and increasing impact on NERAM’s future. Our aim is for the Foundation to become the main source of our on-going annual funding, providing financial certainty that will allow us to focus on presenting outstanding programs and experiences to engage and inspire our community and visitors. Our target is for the Foundation to reach up to $10 million. This is ambitious and aspirational, but we believe that with your on-going support it will be achievable.
NERAM has been built and grown through the support of our community. We ask that you help to strengthen NERAM’s foundations through making a tax-deductable donation that will continue to give to NERAM via the Foundation Endowment Fund.
We sincerely thank you for your generosity and support, and we hope to see you at NERAM soon.
