SUMMARY:Curator Talk: The Neighbour at the Gate
DESCRIPTION:Hear from The Neighbour at the Gate curator Zali Morgan during the exhibition’s opening weekend on Saturday the 30th of May. \nThe Neighbour at the Gate is a major group exhibition presented by National Art School and guest curated by Clothilde Bullen\, alongside Micheal Do and Zali Morgan. The exhibition brings together newly commissioned artworks that examine the enduring impact of Australian immigration policies and colonial histories on First Nations and Asian Australian communities. \nZali Morgan is a Noongar woman with ancestral connections to Whadjuk\, Balladong\, and Wilman Boodjar. She was born and raised near Wooditchup on Wardandi Boodjar and is now based near Boorloo / Perth. As an artist\, curator\, and cultural worker\, Morgan has a deep passion for working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists\, particularly uplifting Noongar artistic practices. With a keen interest in modes of decolonising\, she has worked closely with private and institutional collections\, including the Art Gallery of Western Australia\, Wesfarmers Arts\, and the Berndt Museum of Anthropology. \nImage credit: Zali Morgan\, photograph: Matty Loucas \n\n \n
