May 13 @ 6:00 pm - June 12 @ 4:00 pm
The Holga Experiment is an exercise by UNE academic and photographer Glenn Porter involving the Japanese philosophies of ikigai and wabi sabi in combination with the aesthetic popularised by the inexpensive Holga toy camera in the 1980s. The perfectly imperfect effect created by the Holga lens is an example of finding beauty in an object’s flaws. For this exhibition, Porter has documented everyday ephemeral moments of his life, imbuing them with a stillness and sense of quiet that encourages contemplation.
Opening Night Event: Friday 13th May, 6.00pm
