Glitter: Pat Larter

Glitter focuses on Pat Larter’s abstract works, which act as an ironic yet celebratory examination of painting, kitsch, and outrageous joy. Larter used an excess of colour, texture and pattern as well as hobby-craft and children’s materials to provide a total antithesis to the gestural machismo or cool detachment of ‘high abstraction.’ Seductive and yet entirely too much, Larter’s glitter works deserve and demand attention.
