SUMMARY:Mohani Art with Jeannette Kommer
DESCRIPTION:Jeannette Kommer\, the artist behind Mohani Art\, graduated from Minerva Art Academy in the Netherlands in 1998. During her studies\, she discovered the central theme that continues to inspire both her art and her life: exploring patterns and learning how to break free from them. \nHer work is created through layers\, templates\, and repeating forms that are continuously built up\, transformed\, and reimagined. While her early work focused on bold colours and geometric shapes on large canvases\, her current paintings are more organic and transparent\, using similar techniques on wooden panels. \nIn this workshop\, you will create your own artwork on a 30 x 30 cm wooden panel. The focus is not on achieving a perfect final piece\, but on discovering and enjoying the creative process. Through playful experimentation\, you’ll learn that having fewer choices can often open up more possibilities. \nUsing small templates and water-diluted acrylic paints\, we’ll build up layers and patterns step by step. After a short lunch break\, you’ll be introduced to a batik-inspired technique that creates beautiful and often surprising effects on the wooden panel. \nThe workshop encourages curiosity\, exploration\, and letting go of expectations about what your artwork should become. For those who would like to dive deeper into the techniques and possibilities\, Jeannette will also share several of her own paintings as examples and inspiration. \nDATES: Sunday August 30 \nTIME: 10am – 3pm (½ hour lunch break) \nVENUE: Packsaddle Studio at NERAM \nCOST: General Price $130\, FoN/CC member Price $120 \nAll materials are included. Bookings are essential. \nImage: Evolving Acryl en lak op hout\, 2013\, Jeanette Kommer. \n\n\n \nTerms and Conditions\n\n\n\n\n\nAll bookings for events\, art classes and workshops require payment in full at the time of booking\nA minimum number of 6 students required for classes to proceed\, please book and pay before 9am Friday 21st August 2026 to ensure classes go ahead\nPlease be aware that once bookings close\, we are unable to offer a refund\nIf the class does not proceed\, you will be refunded any cash amount\nNERAM events have a limited capacity and use a ticketing system. Bookings are essential\nStudent contact details may be passed on to facilitators for communication purposes\n\n\n\n\n\n
