In this 3 hour workshop, participants will create watercolour monotypes with non-toxic water-based mediums, learning how to prepare a plate, build an image and then run the plate through the press.
Monotypes are often described as painterly prints. They are a hybrid process that combines the techniques and materials of drawing, printing and painting. These images are made by drawing or painting with ink or paint onto a smooth surface such as metal or perspex. This image is then transferred to paper using a press. Unlike other printmaking techniques the resulting image is a ‘one off’ that cannot be repeated.
