Tabanko Flamenko represents authentic flamenco artistry and is a new project produced by Spanish/ Australian Flamenco Dancer, Deya Miranda Giner, who has recently returned back to Australia from Spain, after more than 20 years away, studying, living and working as a professional Flamenco Dancer. Her incredible journey in the land of Flamenco allowed paths to cross with Paco Lara (maestro of the flamenco guitar) from Jerez de la Frontera, in southern Spain.
Now, they both live in NSW’s Hunter Valley, performing and teaching this unique art form and way of life, they passionately love, to the Australian community. The group also includes Australian flamenco artists Zoe Vélez, cante (Voice), Zoe is of Spanish heritage and holds a large professional curriculum in the Australian Flamenco scene.
The name “Tabanko Flamenko” was inspired by the traditional name of the sherry wine bars (Tabancos) of Jerez de la Frontera, where flamenco artists have performed for centuries, making it unique to the andalusion cradle city of flamenco, Jerez.
