SUMMARY:Opening Night
DESCRIPTION:Join us for the opening of three new exhibitions on Friday 2nd October from 6pm. \nNERAM Director\, Rachael Parsons will open the evening with an introduction to the new exhibitions. Light refreshments will be available throughout the evening. \n\nEXHIBITION INFORMATION \nNew Horizons: Emerging Voices in Landscape\nNew Horizons: Emerging Voices in Landscape brings together five emerging regional artists – Tania Hartigan\, Peta Moore\, Jacqueline Scotcher\, Jane Tonks\, and Rita Winiger – whose practices offer fresh and distinctive perspectives on the Australian landscape. Developed through a mentorship program with acclaimed artist Angus Nivison\, the exhibition reflects on place\, environment and lived experience through diverse approaches to landscape. \nFractured Sanctuary: Ken O’Regan\nFractured Sanctuary is a luminous meditation on beauty\, waste and the sacred. Ken O’Regan transforms hundreds of discarded plastic objects into a glowing\, kaleidoscopic composition inspired by the rose windows of medieval cathedrals\, Victorian leadlight and the neon signs of contemporary commerce. Seductive and unsettling in equal measure\, the work elevates the everyday while confronting the environmental cost of our culture of consumption. \nWhat Are YOU Looking At?\nWhat Are YOU Looking At? invites us to look closely and to consider what it means to be seen. Drawing from NERAM’s collections\, this exhibition brings together portraits spanning different eras\, styles and approaches to the representation of people. From intimate self-portraits to bold and unexpected interpretations\, these works reveal how artists use portraiture to explore identity\, character\, relationships and the act of looking itself. Who are we looking at? What can a portrait reveal\, and what might it conceal? \n\nEVENT DETAILS\nDate: Fri 2nd Oct\nTime: 6pm – 8pm\nLocation: NERAM\nCost: FREE – RSVP below. \n\nImage credit: Ken O’Regan\, Fractured Sanctuary (NERAM Configuration)\, 2026. 2400 x 3450mm. 20 panels.
