SUMMARY:UNE Discovery: Creative Chemistry
DESCRIPTION:Ever wanted to tap into your inner chemist? Here’s your chance! In this activity\, students will don lab coats and mix unknown substances into bubbling concoctions and colour changing creations. \nParticipants in this workshop will investigate the outcomes of different chemical reactions\, and how they relate to our every-day lives. Using their understanding of chemistry built within the lesson\, students will seek to identify unknown substances\, and experiment to explore chemical and physical interactions. They will then create colourful explosions to examine different chemical properties from pH to phase changes\, thermal interactions of substances\, gas production and precipitation\, and use an investigative approach to predict\, observe and explain what we behold. \nFollowing this\, participants will get a short tour of the art gallery\, focussing on Angus Nivison’s Unfamiliar Territory exhibition. Then\, we’ll be creating a mini abstract artwork inspired by the paintings of Angus Nivison\, which children can take home with them. Two workshops for the price of one! \nSession 1 will be run for children in years K-6\, while session 2 is run for teens in years 7-10. \nPlease ensure you are selecting the correct session time for your child’s age group. \n\nEVENT INFORMATION \nDate: Thursday 8 October 2026\nSession 1 (K-6): 10:30am – 11:45am\nSession 2 (7-10): 12:00pm – 1:15pm\nLocation: New England Regional Art Museum\nCost: $15 \nNote: Drop off will be at Packsaddle Studio beneath the gallery and pick-up will be in the NERAM foyer. \n\nTerms and Conditions \n· All bookings for events\, art classes and workshops require payment in full at the time of booking \n· A minimum number of 10 students required for workshop to proceed \n· Please be aware that once bookings close\, we are unable to offer a refund \n· If the workshop does not proceed\, you will be refunded any cash amount \n· NERAM events have a limited capacity and use a ticketing system.
