In celebration of Del Kathryn Barton’s touring exhibition, ‘The Nightingale and the Rose’ we enter into an imaginary world through her paintings and animated short film.
Description of Activity:
Children are taken through Del Kathryn Barton’s exhibition to be immersed into her magical world.
Showcasing an animated short film, Del Kathryn Barton’s paintings are digitally re-imagined alongside Oscar Wilde’s famous ‘The Nightingale and the Rose’ fairy tale.
By using coloured / patterned paper, pieces of ribbon and fabric, students are able to create there own fantasy landscape inspired by Del Kathryn Barton’s exhibition.
Students can then re-imagine their physical artwork into a digital landscape using apps such as ‘pattern artist’.
*Pre-visit Notes for teachers: Ideally, students are required to bring their own digital devices and would need to download the ‘pattern artist’ app beforehand. Please ask if you are unable to obtain digital devices and we can look into this further…
