SUMMARY:Wonders of HINTON
DESCRIPTION:Experience one of the greatest collections of art in regional Australia with the new semi-permanent display\, Wonders of Hinton. \nThe Howard Hinton Collection is the result of one of the greatest acts of artistic philanthropy and benefaction in Australian history. Between 1929 and 1948 a collection of over 1000 artworks were donated to the newly constructed Armidale Teachers’ College by the retired shipping agent\, Howard Hinton OBE (1866-1948). The collection provides a snapshot into Australian artistic practice in the early twentieth century as well as some insights into this ‘modest and self-effacing’ gentleman who lived in a boarding house in the north shore suburb of Cremorne and is one of the most significant collections of Australian art in regional New South Wales. \nOpening Night Event: Friday 3 February\, 6pm \n

SUMMARY:Experimenta Emergence: National Tour of Media Arts
DESCRIPTION:Experimenta Emergence presents the work of contemporary artists who explore emerging societal and environmental changes and offer other perspectives\, imagined possibilities and directions. \nAt a time when the unknown and maybe the unknowable is building like a wave\, these artists encourage us to question our shifting realities. What are the forces shaping our worlds? How might we encounter\, counter or adapt to the transformations of the human and more-than-human world we are part of? Can we alter current trajectories? \nThe art works these Australian and international artists have created – virtual realities\, participatory works\, and speculative fictions – will provoke you to ask questions about where we\, individually and collectively\, are going … and where we might want to go. \n  \n\nCurator: Lubi Thomas \nCuratorial Advisor: Jody Haines \n\nARTISTS \nLeah Barclay | Ina Conradi & Mark Chavez | Sophie Dumaresq | Kate Geck | Amrita Hepi | Katrin Hochschuh & Adam Donovan | Ben Joseph Andrews & Emma Roberts | Daniel McKewen | Hayley Millar Baker | Jonny Scholes | Cecilie Waagner Falkenstrøm | Wang & Söderström | Liam Young \n\n \n

SUMMARY:Habitat: Christine James
DESCRIPTION:\n\nThis body of work by Christine James explores the upland wetland of Little Llangothlin on Banbai Country\, tracing the artist’s encounters with its unique plant and bird life through intimate\, layered paintings that reflect the fragile biodiversity of Australian wetlands. Moving between flora and avifauna\, the series becomes a visual meditation on habitat\, ecological change and the quiet complexity of this Ramsar-listed landscape. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nHabitat will exhibit at NERAM from the 1st of May until the 7th of June. \n\nOpening night will run from 6pm-8pm on Friday 1st May.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nImage credit: Christine James\, Community Day Swamp Hens and Coots Billy Bung Lagoon\, 2025. SUMMARY:A Journey in Miniature
DESCRIPTION:\n\nInspired by an artistic practice that span centuries\, A Journey in Miniature celebrates the enduring allure of small-scale art—from the illuminated manuscripts of the medieval world to the intimate portrait miniatures of the Romantic era\, and into the vibrant diversity of contemporary practice. \nPresented by the Australian Society of Miniature Art\, this exhibition brings together an extraordinary range of works that demonstrate the precision\, skill and imagination demanded by the form. Working within the discipline of scale—where every detail is heightened and nothing can be overlooked\, artists explore subjects limited only by their imagination\, across painting\, drawing\, printmaking and mixed media. \n\n\n \n\n\n\n\nAbout the Australian Society of Miniature Art (AMSA)\n\nThe Australian Society of Miniature Art (NSW) Inc. was founded in 1985 when there was a growing worldwide renaissance of miniature art and interest in its contemporary\nexpression.\n\nOne of the aims of the society is to introduce the viewing public to the background of the field and show the development of the miniature and its place in today’s world. Many of the artists are professionals of long-standing who reside Australia-wide.\n\nASMA has held an Annual National Awards exhibition for over 20 years\, which is open to any Australian artist working in miniature.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nA Journey in Miniature will be on at NERAM from 6pm Friday 1st May until 4pm Sunday 7th June. \n\n\n\n\nOur opening night event will run from 6pm – 8pm on Friday 1st May.\n\n\n\nImage credit: Ann Milch\, Dutch Memories\, 2023.
