Inspired by the exhibition Boundaries: Transcended
What does home mean to you?
Explore the hundreds of tiny ceramic homes in NERAM’s Boundaries: Transcended exhibition, then create a special little house of your own in this hands-on school holiday workshop.
Boundaries: Transcended brings together 700 tiny ceramic structures created by people from many different cultural backgrounds. From traditional huts and apartments to tents, caravans, temples and imagined dream homes, each tells a story about place, identity, belonging and the idea of home.
After exploring the exhibition together, participants will design and build their own miniature house using air-dry clay. Your house might be inspired by somewhere you live or have lived, a place that is special to your family, a dream home for the future—or somewhere completely imaginary!
Experiment with shape, texture and pattern as you add windows, doors, roofs and other tiny architectural details to make your house uniquely yours.
Designed for ages 10+, this workshop is also open to parents, grandparents and carers who would like to create alongside their young person. No previous clay experience is needed – just bring your imagination.
