Monotype Relief Printing with Lizzie Horne
Having just finished her solo show ‘uncivilized garden’ at NERAM, local artist Lizzie Horne takes us through a simple printmaking process suitable for children which you can do from your own home.

You will need:
- a perfectly flat glass panel/perspex panel
 
- roller
 
- water based ink
 
- tracing/baking paper
 
- a photocopy of an image
 
- paper
 
- pencils
 
- masking tape
 
Instructions
- find or draw the image you wish to use for the print
 
- draw this onto tracing paper/baking paper
 
- setup your glass/perspex panel evenly on your table/bench, place masking tape down as a frame for your print
 
- using a roller, smooth out your water-based ink removing any excess ink/clumps
 
- place blank sheet of paper directly onto ink and another strip of masking tape underneath
 
- place drawing on top of the paper
 
- start tracing your drawing with a pencil, keep your fingers away from the paper + tracing paper
 
- once complete, unveil your creation!
