Let NERAM come to you – Exclusive prints of ‘Old Tom’ by Australian artist and acclaimed author Leigh Hobbs are available to come to your school.
Showcasing 6 hand coloured etchings of Old Tom plus the ‘The big book of OLD TOM’ by Leigh Hobbs, an art educator will come to your classroom displaying and discussing the original artworks, reading segments of the hilarious book and engaging in fun art making activities.
Description of Activity
Meet Old Tom, one of the cheekiest characters we know. A lovable rogue whose outrageously bad behaviour is guaranteed to have the classroom laughing out loud. Ask Old Tom to come to you!
Students are introduced to Old Tom in 6 exclusive and original artworks by art educator. What process did the artist go through to make these prints?
The exclusivity of original prints leaving the museum walls is discussed, as it must stay with a NERAM representative and they cannot be touched.
What outside factors can affect an original artwork?
Why can’t artworks leave a museum?
Old Tom comes to life through the reading of a segment of the book ‘The Big Book of Old Tom’ and the class is then invited to create their own fun-loving character inspired by the artwork and story of Old Tom.
