NERAM announces new Director

The New England Regional Art Museum has announced the appointment of Rachael Parsons as the new Art Museum Director.

Rachael Parsons has been the Manager, Curatorial and Exhibitions at NERAM for two years and has in that time overseen the delivery of more than forty programs, including a range of collection, touring, local artist and special project exhibitions, and was the lead curator of HINTON: Treasures of Australian Art, a permanent salon hang that presents a selection of works from NERAM’s seminal Hinton Collection.

Chair of New England Regional Art Museum Ltd Board, Andrew Murray announced the appointment on July 1st.

“On behalf of the Board of the New England Regional Art Museum I am very pleased to announce the appointment of Rachael Parsons as our new Museum Director.”

“Rachael has been our Manager, Curatorial and Exhibitions for the past two years and is well known to the many friends and supporters that make up the greater NERAM family”

“Rachael brings a record of outstanding academic achievement along with a practical and hands-on approach to arts management and problem solving.”

“Rachael’s application was one of a number that included applicants from interstate and overseas.  In considering the applications the Board’s selection committee was fortunate to be able to include Michael Rolfe, CEO of Museums and Galleries, NSW and we are grateful for his involvement.”

On learning of her appointment, Rachael said “Over the past two years I have been fortunate to be involved in a period of growth and change at NERAM, and to work with an incredible team of staff and volunteers. I am excited to continue this work within my new role as Director and to further realise the Museum’s place as one of the most significant and engaging art institutions in regional Australia.”

“I’m very grateful for the on-going support of NERAM’s Board and community, and I look forward to working with them to further activate the Museum, build on its momentum and to engage audiences in a diverse program of exhibitions and events”
