Successful grant for significant collections

NERAM is delighted to announce that it was awarded a $9350 federal Community Heritage Grant to fund a Preservation Needs Assessments for the Chandler Coventry and Howard Hinton Collections.

Director Caroline Downer also attended a three-day intensive preservation and collection management workshop held at the National Library, the National Archives of Australia, the National Museum of Australia and the National Film and Sound Archive in Canberra.

A detailed Preservation Needs Assessment of both the Howard Hinton and the Chandler Coventry collection is essential so that the particular conservation of individual artworks can be assessed and a treatment plan devised for these significant collections.  Detailed and specialised knowledge of both paper and painting conservation is vital for NERAM to create practical steps in a long-term conservation strategy.

The Community Heritage Grants Program is managed by the National Library. It is funded by the Australian Government through the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet, Office for the Arts; the National Archives of Australia; the National Film and Sound Archive; the National Museum of Australia and the National Library.
